Review ~ Stainless Water Bottle Filter ~ Win One of Your Own Inside!

We were asked to do a review for a self-filtering stainless steel water bottle from DisasterSurvivalSkills.com. We were in no-way paid for this and all opinions are our own. Wayne at DisasterSurvivalSkills was nice enough to provide us with a bottle to review as well as one to give away to you all! :D

First, here's some info from the website (DisasterSurvivalSkills.com):

  • Contains an Ionic-Adsorption Micro-Filtration System that becomes your portable and mobile water filtration plant.
  • Purifies up to 100 gallons of contaminated water.
  • Worlds first and only stainless steel filter water bottle.
  • Filters everything except salt water.
  • BPA-free, lead free and non-leaching.

Now, what we think:
The first thing we noticed is that the bottle is very aesthetically pleasing. It has a sleek look and a good shape to it. We got a dark blue one and a soft pink one. Of course, we fought over which one to keep and somehow I won, so we're keeping the blue one. :)
Anyway, is it just looks? Nope, not at all. After a quick wash, we were ready to try this out! We filled it up with regular sink water (we also filled up a regular glass with the same water for taste testing). There's no waiting for the water to filter like those pitcher systems. The water filters through from the suction you create when drawing the water up through the bottle. Think of it as a straw instead of a sports bottle type.
The one tricky thing was that we were tempted to tip the bottle and try to drink that way, but that does not work. Water has to be in the bottom of the bottle for it work.
This makes the bottle a very good choice for driving, since you don't have to tip your head to drink like you would with regular bottled water. That is probably our favorite part!
Anyway, a side by side taste test ensued. We definitely noticed the "nasty" taste of our tap water was not there. The bottle did a nice job of getting rid of that.

We would have to wait 8 months to do a review of how long the bottle filtered, but so far, everything they say about this bottle has been true.

  36. G Bailey says:

thinking this would be good for kids–is it insulated?

  37. Amy Capps says:

I love this idea! I would love to try it!

  38. Jeni Mitchell says:

I really like the sound of this water bottle. I like the straw aspect for a filter. I do think that is much safer for driving, just as you said. The contour of the bottle also makes its appearance very nice. I think this is one bottle, despite have several that I would want to add to my collection.

  39. Deb Anderson says:

I love everything about it. The fact that it’s stainless steel makes it very durable, and no plastic nasties in the drinking water. The shape is eye-catching. What I like most is how long it lasts. I had one of these self-filtering bottles (plastic) and the filter didn’t seem to last very long at all.

  40. Kristi H. says:

Yes, I like the idea. I need this to take with me when I walk.

  41. Anne Lehnick says:

I think this is a great idea!

  42. Sounds like a good idea as long as it can handle a lot of water. We drink tons here.
