We've been eating ground turkey a lot more lately. It just kind of happened. Safeway had it on sale one week and since we like sales, we bought it. We wound up making a delicious turkey soup with it. I mean, it was really, really good. I was amazed at how good it was, since I have always thought ground beef was the best and nothing else was even close.
We then made turkey burgers and they were also very good. So, needless to say, then I was contacted and told that Del Taco now has ground turkey tacos, I was excited. Turkey is lower fat than typical ground beef as well, so that's a nice little bonus.
Even with our recent turkey successes, I was skeptical when trying out these tacos. I mean, who wants to try anything but a classic beef taco?! Well, consider me a fan.
These tacos tasted so good and I wasn't missing the ground beef at all. It was everything I love about classic Del Taco tacos. Delicious meat, lots of lettuce, cheese, tomato and of course, a pack of Del Scorcho sauce. The regular crunchy taco has always been my go-to item there. I once had an eating contest with them and lost to a guy who ate 13. I ate 8. Anyway, I'm getting side-tracked. If I had been eating turkey tacos, I may have been able to eat more. It would have also been healthier, since they have 33% less fat than the standard.
Want to know the best part? These tacos are only $1.29!! Two of these is probably enough to fill you up and 3 is definitely enough. So for under $4.00, you've got yourself a meal!
Here's some official details about these awesome tacos: Turkey Tacos are served in a crunchy corn or warm flour tortilla with freshly grated cheddar cheese, crisp lettuce and pico de gallo, made fresh daily at each Del Taco location.
