Checks in the Mail Holiday Cash Campaign

850_CITM 762x244_V4

Checks can be expensive. They can be a hassle and a burden to have to buy, but at the same time they are pretty much a necessary evil. Unless you're my wife, in which case they are a fun time, because there's always so many cute ones to choose from! I'm paraphrasing, of course. No joke, right now our checks are old fashioned Winnie the Pooh characters. That's love right there.

Do you want to win some holiday cash? Make sure you open your Valpak envelope this month! Valpak and Checks in the Mail have teamed up to give away $100 checks in blue envelopes all over the country. Open yours today!

Ten winners will each receive $100 from Checks in the Mail. Only one winner per email address. Giveaway ends November 22, 2013. By submitting your email address you are agreeing to share that email with Checks in the Mail. Also, take 20% off check orders from Check in the Mail with code TY20!

delicious coffee by seattle's best #rubi2go #shop

Hello, my name is Zack and I am addicted to coffee. Hi, Zack! If I don't have my coffee in the morning, my day just isn't right. So when I found out about a new fantastic option to get coffee for a great low price, well of course I had to check it out! It's the Rubi coffee kiosk and one was just installed in our local grocery store! So now I can shop for my groceries and have a tasty and cheap pick-me-up in the process. Because we all know our beloved coffee shops can really make a dent in our wallets, so every once in a while it's nice to have a cheap but still great-tasting alternative!

The #Rubi2Go coffee kiosk is super simple to use. You just put in your money (only $1.00! What a steal!) and set a cup under the dispenser, then choose your flavor with the push of a button (they even have a seasonal pumpkin spice flavor that I'm going to try next time- yum!) and the machine brews the coffee for you and voila! You're ready to start your day. It's fast, simple, cheap and delicious! All good words. Rubi uses Seattle's Best coffee made from beans that are ground right at the kiosk when you order, so it is not some vending machine fake coffe, but real ground goodness! There are also milk and sweetener options available for personalization. How cool is that?! I will absolutely be making this a regular thing, as I am a sucker for a good deal and good quality coffee. This is a beautiful marriage of both of those things.

Gorton’s Wicked Good Seafood Review and Giveaway!

We love fish and chips in our household. It's a meal that we like to have a few times a month, as a treat. There's just something so comforting and heartwarming about it. When we don't feel like going to a restaurant, the next best thing is surely to pull a box out of the freezer and have a meal that tastes like it's from a restaurant right in the comfort of your own home! This is where Gorton's seafood comes in. We pretty much always have a box of seafood in our freezer for a quick and delicious meal to warm the cockles of your soul. We just recently made shrimp and loved how easy they were to make (just heat them up in your oven and you're done!) and how yummy they were to eat. We are definite fans of Gorton's.

Clark Howard’s New Book –
Living Large for the Long Haul

clark howard book
When asked to review Clark Howard's new book, I jumped at the opportunity. If you don't know about Clark Howard, he's a personal finance genius. His new book, Living Large for the Long Haul takes real people and tells their stories of financial success and failures.

I was immediately drawn to this book because of the real-life examples. I am a fan of giving examples rather than just preaching. If I can relate to people and their story, I am much more receptive to what is being said. This book does just that. There's something about reading about people's experience and thinking, "yep, that's me" that makes me want to listen to the advice that follows.

There are 50 examples from real people in just about every financial situation you could think of. After each story is a snipped from Clark Howard about what you can take away from that particular story or what you can learn from it. The concept is really great. The experiences that I can relate to make it really easy to want to real Clark's tips. Of course you are not going to relate to every single one of the experiences listed in the book, but for me, reading the experiences that I cannot relate to make me feel like I will be equipped if a similar situation does arise in my life.

It's really easy to find a story that relates to you because the book is broken down into several main sections from which stories are takes including: credit, real estate, investing and my personal favorite, entrepreneurship.

The tips in the book are truly useful and practical. One such tip is one that I have written about many times. There is an example of someone who have consistently lowered her cable bill simply by calling and asking.

There are two ways you could approach this book. You could scan the table of contents and find the stories that you think would most relate to you, or you could do what I did. Just pick the book up and read it cover-to-cover. Each story has something that you can take away from and apply to your life in one way or another. After reading the book, I genuinely felt like I was ready to make smarter financial decisions in just about every part of my life.

If you'd like to pick up a copy of the book, you can do so to the right.
The book is available in a copy as well as a Kindle version.

Now, more exciting news... you can win a copy of the book right here! Use the Rafflecopter below to enter. You can get up to 3 entries. One for a "like" of our Facebook page, one for following us on Twitter and one for a comment below. Entries accepted through 9/7/2013 at 11:59 PM.
