We were sent over a fantastic book and DVD set called The Making Babies Book and DVD Series by Shoshanna Easling.
We were initially very pleased with the beautiful look and feel of the book. Content aside, this book spared no expense. The pages are thick and quality, the photos are beautiful and the binding is sure to hold up over time.
Upon reading through this book, it is very clear that this will be extremely helpful to use before, during and after pregnancy! If you are a natural food lover and like to stay away from artificial remedies then this book if great for you!
The book leads off with hundreds of clear and good looking recipes. The book is loaded with brews and tinctures for home remedies for everything that a pregnancy can bring such as nausea, morning sickness, lack of certain vitamins and more! The food recipes look delicious and are all incredibly healthy!
Not all of the recipes are for consumption. Shoshanna also shares some great recipes for exercises, scrubs, washes and skin care.
Throughout the book, the reader is treated to well placed pictures of the author and her adorable baby. The exercises are supported by guiding images and the food recipes look delicious with tasty pictures of the finished product.
After the recipes, there is a nice “Did You Know” section that covers a bunch of different baby related topics such as morning sickness, how to keep your baby calm, nursing, jaundice and many other baby and mother topics. After that, there is a nice section that will take you back to simpler times. Aptly titles, “Grandma’s Remedies”, this section has recipes and instructions for creating your own toothpaste and deodorant as well as some classic remedies for baby’s issues such as fever and congestion.
The last section is a great baby diary that is for the reader to fill out as their baby grows up. In the diary, the reader will keep track of many of their baby’s essential stats like height and weight as well as firsts that happen along the way.
After reading this book, I consider it a baby bible of sorts. It really does have all of the bases covered. It is also useful if you don’t have a baby! We have used the recipes in this book for ourselves!
The DVD series is more of the useful information found in the book. There are additional recipes (where you can actually watch her prepare them like a cooking show!) and more useful information. The DVD is especially good if you are not as comfortable with just following along with a book. If you are a more visual learner, the DVD is perfect! The DVD series is nice because she literally makes some recipes right in front of you so you can see how easy they are.
If you are a natural food buff or are looking to eat more natural foods, this book and DVD series is something you would really enjoy. A lot of the information here was new to me, but it is going to prove to be very useful for trying to cook with and use more natural products. The videos really help erase the stigma that cooking with natural foods and ingredients is more difficult.
